Kicking off the Annual Charity Football tournament at the Brook Activity Centre, as part of Homelessness Awareness are (-l-r) Councillor Jonathan Craig; Mr Syd McDowell, Patron of Council for the Homeless NI; Miss Dawn Hawthorne; Mr David Malcolm, DSD and IFA representative; Ms Margaret Ritchie, Social Development Minister; Councillor Matthew McDermott; Mr Jason Scott; Alderman Paul Porter, Deputy Mayor of Lisburn City Council; Ms Ricky Rowledge, Director of Council for the Homeless NI and Councillor David Archer, Chairman of the Lisburn City Council’s Leisure Services Committee.   The Brook Activity Centre is situated in the heart of the Twinbrook Estate, the original facilities included a 22m x 16.5m main hall, 6 changing rooms, a kitchen and a committee room.

The Hi -Tech Fitness Suite is a16-station facility includes a range of cardiovascular equipment with qualified staff on hand  to ensure the maximum enjoyment and benefit to all users.

Further provisions included the construction of a Committee Room, which is used for a variety of activities, including Birthday Parties, Meetings and Training Courses.

With a refurbished Kitchen, the Committee Room has proven extremely popular over the years.

For those looking for a less active leisure experience, the centre can offer the hire of two full-size snooker tables, a pool table or the use of the latest hi-tech sunbed.

The 21-Acre Site

Recently the development for the 21Acre-site adjacent to the centre has significantly broadened the range of facilities provided. 

This initiative, a joint venture between the Council and the community sector, has provided a full-size floodlit astro turf pitch, two full size grass pitches and a grass gaelic pitch along with comprehensive changing facilities.  Football, gaelic, hurling and camogie are just some of the sports played at the facility.
